Welcome back to the blog!
Today, we're diving into one of the longest-standing issues in the Call of Duty community: server stability. Over the years, Call of Duty players across Warzone, Multiplayer, Zombies, and other game modes have expressed frustration about server issues, with complaints ranging from high ping and lag to disconnects and packet loss. Despite being one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world, Call of Duty has struggled to maintain consistent server quality.
Players often experience performance issues when matched with others across different regions, or when Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) kicks in, leading to longer match queue times and a degradation in connection quality. These issues have been well-documented, with many players calling for server upgrades to improve the overall gameplay experience.
Recently, however, there have been some interesting signs that Call of Duty might finally be addressing these concerns. During the Black Ops 6 beta, for example, multiple server updates were mentioned in patch notes, with developers claiming to have improved server-side stability. Although the changes were not always noticeable to all players, it was encouraging to see the issue being addressed directly.
In addition to these updates, Call of Duty has started to roll out post-match surveys asking players to rate the connection quality of their games. While this might seem like a small gesture, Call of Duty has a history of using player feedback from these surveys to inform future updates. We’ve seen changes to elements like Time-to-Kill (TTK) and even the return of Verdansk in Warzone based on player feedback. With more emphasis on server stability and player experience, we might finally be on the brink of meaningful improvements.
Good servers are the foundation of any online game. No matter how fun the gameplay, bad servers can ruin the experience. If Call of Duty can finally address these server issues, it would be a huge win for the community.
