Warzone may be getting a brand-new Resurgence battleground when Black Ops 7 launches later this year — and it could be set in one of Treyarch’s most mysterious locations.
Liberty Falls Returns in Warzone
According to trusted Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, the upcoming Season 1 update for Black Ops 7 will bring a fresh Resurgence map to Warzone. The setting? An “extended Liberty Falls,” a fictional West Virginia town first introduced as a Zombies map in Black Ops 6.
This region has quickly become a recurring backdrop for Treyarch’s storytelling, with Shattered Veil and Reckoning also taking place there. If the leak is accurate, Warzone players could see all three maps connected into one expanded environment for the first time.
Fellow leaker Reality has doubled down on these claims, stating that the new Warzone map will “indeed take place in Liberty Falls” and include areas like Shattered Veil alongside the town itself. Interestingly, the map was reportedly originally planned for Black Ops 6, but was pushed back to coincide with BO7’s integration.

Early Feedback: Mixed Reactions
Not everyone is convinced Liberty Falls will be a hit. Hope reported that “some people playtested it a while back in person and I heard nobody really liked it.”
That skepticism is understandable. Warzone’s last attempt at a new Resurgence map, Area 99, was widely criticized at launch and ultimately removed on April 2, just five months after release. Since then, Rebirth Island has stood alone as the only active Resurgence map.
However, Reality has heard more positive reports, suggesting the Liberty Falls experience “actually plays okay.” Until players get their hands on it, the community remains split.
What This Means for Warzone’s Future
The Liberty Falls leak also adds weight to earlier reports that Verdansk will remain available with Black Ops 7’s integration. While some expected the long-rumored Avalon map to arrive with CoD 2025, it’s now said to be reserved for the campaign’s Co-Op Endgame mode rather than Warzone.
Officially, Activision has confirmed that Season 1 will bring Black Ops 6 weapons and Operators into BO7, along with fresh Warzone content. Historically, every Warzone integration has arrived with either a new Resurgence or full Battle Royale map — making Liberty Falls a strong contender for launch.
When We’ll Know More
Fans won’t have to wait long for clarity. Call of Duty Next, scheduled for September 30, will showcase Black Ops 7 gameplay with streamers and content creators playing live. Following that, the Black Ops 7 beta is set to kick off, giving players their first hands-on experience.
